Light Speed Individual Open Buzzer Quiz: News 06: 1st September 2003 Pat Gibson - Size of Brain matched by size of Wallet

Gibson wins Again

Yetserday, at the Mill House, Gildersome, Pat Gibson once again provided an awesome display of knowledge coupled with a speed on the draw which would make Clint Eastwood in his pomp seem as tardy as a drifting continent. Despite being clueless on the more important aspects of quizology (e.g. what does H & E stand for, how often a night did Ralph Halpern bonk Fiona Wright and What part of David Mellor's body was sucked by Antonia de Sanchez) he came through with some devastating runs when he needed them to win all five of his games including a close (27-20) final against Darren Martin and a proper nail baiter against Mark Kerr (27-22).

The standard overall was mind blowing (as opposed to Toe blowing) and the strength of competetion was increased with the initiation of Barry Simmons, who once into his stride won his last three games.

Discrete buzzer system (still) required.

Lee Dyson has written a neat little software programme which separates hot key presses. (i.e. it tells you who pressed first, second, third etc. Now I want the Hardware to put a buzzer on each table and have each buzzer act as a 'hot key'. Butchering a keyboard is not an option, I have been told that multiple ports will do the trick. Any ideas?

This is a recap of the original request

The LSQ Buzzer system and all the systems at Villa Park were perfect for team buzzer quizzes (i.e. 'A' versus 'B'). What we really want (for individual buzzer quiz) is a system which separates each buzz with a time, much in the same style as in an athletics event, where a gun starts the stopwatches, but lane judges stop each one. Does anybody know of one?

I have explored the following options:-

It would be reasonable to suppose a PC based system would be best as this could provide a large display via a projector along with time ordering and the multiplicity of other advantages afforded by software. Any thoughts are appreciated
