Light Speed Individual Open Buzzer Quiz: News 08: 16th September 2003

Speciality Rounds: Number One - Fawlty Towers (Rainhill 28th September)

At 4 o'clock on match days we will be having a 'speciality round'. A Buzzer Quiz over 50 questions

The winner will get Ł12 or the kitty, whichever is greatest
The winner will arrange for the setting and delivery of next month's speciality round
Each competitor (apart from the winner) and the setter get to suggest a specialist subject for the following month, which shall be drawn out of a hat.
A specialist subject can be anything about which there is a degree of common knowledge (Shakespeare - OK, Marlowe - Sorry). If less than 70% of the questions are answered correctly the setter is a scurvy dog, and must buy each competitor a pint.
Places limited to 4 contestants. Initially Ł3 to enter. To enter, either write, email, phone, text or see Steve Kidd (Me) personally. Once four contestants have contacted me, the only way in is to raise the ante by at least Ł1. Contact me, raise the stake, and the last person to join at the lower entry fee will be out. All monies go in the kitty, i.e to the winner.

Time to dig out those 12 episodes of what many would regard as TV's finest series!

It is in the centre see map, the Landlord is called Ollie, and beer is Ł1.66 per pint.

The day after the fantastic team event on Saturday (details), there will be the LSQ event adhering to the usual format. If anybody would like to come in prior to the matches, the debate will open up at 12 noon. What are we debating? - how about those unsavoury subjects which we rarely confront each other with, how about the dumbing down of Mastermind, how about why naff football players get more for ten weeks than Clive Spate has won in a lifetime?
