Mark Kerr wins £250,000
On the last posting (19b) I wrote 'Mark and Pat were otherwise occupied'… – Not arf. Mark was on ‘Who wants to be a Millionaire’ and became the biggest money winner for ages. The programme was recorded on Wednesday 21st January and screened on Saturday 31st. Pat supplied him with his vital ‘Phone a friend’ lifeline telling him Cephalonia was in the Ionian sea to take him to 64K. Mark then took an absolutely inspired educated guess at something about egg yolks for 125K and ‘couldn’t believe’ he was asked the nationality of Vikund Quisling for the biggest single value question any of us is ever likely to dream of. When asked about the last man standing in Romeo and Juliet he just picked up his bag and took the money. Chris Tarrant told him the answer which could have got him half a million, cool as a cucumber Mark said “I don’t care”. Having interrogated Mark about the whole event I have to report that I really believe he genuinely couldn’t give a toss – having seen him on Brainteaser only a fortnight ago (where he posted a record score) his TV and off screen persona seems incapable of being phased by any occasion. I am sure I echo the sentiments of all of us who have played against Mark -
I don't do this very often:
I hate overly formatted web pages but
yes! yes! yes! yes! yes!
For the so far unique opportunity to play on this peculiar date, and the chance to congratulate Mark (and Pat) on the above we will be at the Victoria at the end of February. Provisionally I would like to start at 11:00 AM
